On the concluding day of Shravani fest and Raksha Bandhan, the new entrants to Acharyakulum founded by Swami Ramdev and his aide Acharya Balkrishna receive induction into Vedas by their mentor du. Yajna (sacrificial fire) is performed and the students are given the sacred thread to wear amidst recitation Vedic mantras . After the Upnayan sanskar as Vedic rituals the girl students tied ‘raksha sutra’ (rakhi thread) on the wrists of their batchmates with a pledge to protect national culture and humanity as a whole.
Dressed in ceremonial uniform of cream silk lehenga and choli (long length skirt with top) and golden borders, the girl students tie rakhi to Acharya Bal Krishna and Swami Ramdev. Thousands of volunteers from across the country, guardians of students and Bharat Swabhiman volunteers bless the newly initiated students.
Swami Ramdev administers the oath to the students to work with steadfastness in achieving their goals and keep the nation as the foremost goal. He asked the students to work in tandem towards the nation’s prosperity keeping in tune to the heritage of the Rishis and munis of yore.
Notably the Acharyakulum combines the essence of both the modern Montessori type of education as well as the ancient concept of Gurukulum in which the teachers and students stayed at one place till
the education of the child was completed. A student is expected to practice the Yogic kriyas and observe celibacy during the Brahmcharya period and the sanskar of Upanayan or sacred thread wearing imposes certain restrictions which the student under training has to follow.
The yoga guru has announced the opening of 500 such Acharyakulums across the country and the documentation formalities for the formation of the Vedic Board is already complete. The proposal has been sent to the Ministry for approval of the same.
